Postcards from Cyprus, an exhibition by Irish painter Maév Kelly – Sarah’s Jazz Club

Irish painter Maév Kelly exhibits her series of paintings ‘Postcards from Cyprus’ at Sarah’s Jazz Club in Nicosia from December 1-15th, 2017.

Maév Kelly has been living in Cyprus since the beginning of this year and will be exhibiting some small vibrant oil paintings and larger work influenced by her time here.

Kelly initially trained in visual communications in Ireland and has worked in many creative areas including graphic design, animation, illustration and teaching. While working in Boston USA she studied at the famous Fenway Studios beginning her love of oil painting and continued her studies in Florence Italy studying portraiture.

She has exhibited at Art Source RDS and the RHA in Dublin Ireland culminating with her first solo exhibition at the Sol Gallery Dublin which was received with great success.

Over the last year she has began a practice of daily painting using oil on board. The small oil paintings gives her a chance to connect and meditate while paying attention to the subject matter at hand.

Her larger pieces are a process of working from the inside out using a familiar landscape as a starting point while being influenced by the energy and rhythm of that landscape.

The “Postcards from Cyprus” exhibition brings together new works by the artist depicting some popular landmarks and shining a light on the beauty of this island.

The paintings can be enjoyed during the live jazz events and during the day between 11am and 6pm, Mondays to Saturdays in December. Call 95147711 for information and to arrange viewings. Sarah’s Jazz Club is in a historic part of old Nicosia just off OXI roundabout at Xanthis Xenierou, 35, Nicosia 1015.
